    Position: Assistant Professor of Moral Theology


    The Department of Theology and Philosophy at Barry University invites applicants for a full-time continuing contract position in the field of Moral Theology at the assistant professor level, beginning August 16, 2023.


    The in-person position requires the ability to teach the graduate and undergraduate courses in moral theology/Christian Ethics, to advise and mentor students, to engage in scholarly work, and to serve on departmental, college, and university committees. PhD in Moral Theology is required.

    • Responsibilities include a 3-3 undergraduate and graduate level teaching load, including but not limited to introduction to theology, principles of Christian morality, sexual ethics, virtue ethics, and related subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    • The capacity to integrate these topics through a service-learning pedagogy is welcome.
    • Active involvement in the department’s theological graduate programs and participation in the collegial and intellectual life of the university is required. 
    • The position is open with regard to area of specialization, methodological commitments, and ecclesial location.  However, competence in the Catholic moral tradition and the ability to correlate the relationship between morality/ethics and ministry are preferred. 
    • Additional responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring with undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of thesis projects, departmental and college service, university service, community service, and sustained scholarship.
